Stella Kokolis is recognized locally, nationally and internationally as a preeminent community leader, educator, humanitarian and political activist. She has received numerous awards for her professional, charitable and political work by major organizations and political leaders both in the United States and abroad.

  • Social Studies and English as a second Language (ESL) IN new York City Public Schools

  • Executive Director of the Apollo and Athena Academy in New York

  • Founded the Federation of Hellenic American Educators and Cultural Associations of America

  • Founded the Greek American Teachers Organization-Prometheus

  • United Nations’ Institute for Inter-Balkan Relations (a NGO). Also, Member of the Women’s Inter-Balkan Committee

  • Council for Greek American Affairs (SAE)

  • Founded the Hellenic Community Council and co-organized the ‘Conference of 2500 Years of the Birth of Democracy”

  • Founded the National Hellenic Women’s Council (HAWO) and established the Aristeon Award

  • New York City Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Bi-Lingual Education

  • Chaired the Greek Letters and Heritage Committee of the Greek Archdiocese for 15 years

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

  • Liaison to the Greek Community for Elected Officials as well as local and national leaders

  • Established an intensive cultural/educational summer program for American high school students involving traveling through Europe. In addition, she has helped several gifted students obtain college scholarships
