My Contribution Continues

I remained active at the forefront, SAE believing in the institution as an idea for a strong global Hellenism. My relations with both president chris Tomaras in America and the politicians were sincere and always positive. I worked mainly on issues related to Greek women abroad and Greek-language education. I gathered experience through SAE, and I had the opportunity to meet fellow countrymen and women from around the world. On the occasion of the proclamation of 2002 as the “year of the expatriate woman” by the then General Secretary Yannis Magriotis, I organized a big event at the Terrace on the Park to acknowledge the work of Greek immigrant women. It was an event that brought together expatriates from across America. The event was sponsored by Greek State Members Dimitris Sioufas and Gregory Niotis. I worked a lot to make the event successful, as I think that Greek-American women can play an important role in the expatriate scene, breaking the male-dominated leadership establishment.
My service as president of the World council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE)’s Education committee for the US region was full of adventures. We worked very seriously and with great responsibility but our efforts were cancelled by the new political and economic developments in Greece.
